Bootblack Europe 2027
Bootblacking is about much more than polished leather. It is a tradition built on craft, care, connection and community. At Beyond Darklands 2027, Europe’s bootblacks will once again put those values in the spotlight as they compete for the title of Bootblack Europe 2027.
This year marks a new chapter for the competition. For the first time, Emmet, Bootblack Europe 2025, and Shkody, Mr. Fetish Germany 2026, will take the lead as producers, bringing fresh energy to the contest while keeping its community roots firmly at heart.
Over two days, contestants will face a packed program including stand time, a technical boot and skills assessment, a personal interview and a stage round featuring a surprise challenge. A jury will assess their craft, knowledge, leadership and passion, while the Beyond Darklands community will also have its say by voting for their favourite candidate. The new Bootblack Europe 2027 will be crowned on Saturday evening on the Main Stage.
More than a competition
At the heart of the weekend is the Bootblack Station, where the tradition comes to life. From Friday through Sunday during the Daytime Festival, visitors can take a seat and give their gear some expert care while experiencing the personal connection that makes bootblacking so much more than simply putting a shine on leather.
The station also gives bootblacks a place to practise and share their craft throughout the weekend. Guest bootblacks are welcome to join the stand, helping keep bootblack culture visible, active and accessible to the wider community.
Tipping is an important part of bootblack tradition and recognises the time, skill and personal investment involved. A suggested minimum tip of €10 per serviced item is recommended.
