Beyond Darklands, together with producer Alistair LeatherHiraeth, International Mr Bootblack 2022, and assistant producer Mal McDonald, Bootblack Europe 2023, proudly welcomes you to the 7th Bootblack Europe Contest.
The Bootblack Europe Contest is built on inclusion. Bootblacks of every skill level, gender identity and sexual orientation are encouraged to take part. The title is meant for someone who blends technique, service and connection, bringing heart and soul to their stand.
We are looking for a representative who is eager to promote the bootblack community across Europe, share knowledge with others and help lift up a community that is still growing. Visible and active titleholders play an important role in inspiring new bootblacks and strengthening the craft.
Over two days, contestants take part in a full program that includes stand time, a technical boot and skills assessment, a personal interview and a stage round with pop questions from the judging panel. The experience begins on Friday morning and concludes on Saturday evening when the new Bootblack Europe is announced on the Beyond Darklands main stage. It is a demanding but rewarding journey filled with camaraderie, learning and plenty of leather-scented memories.
Give your leather or latex some expert care at the Bootblack Station. Choose your bootblack, discuss the experience you want and enjoy the personal connection that comes with the craft.
Tipping is a long-standing tradition that recognises the time, skill and personal investment involved. A suggested minimum of €10 per serviced item is recommended, though generosity is always appreciated. Half of all tips support the Bootblack Europe 2026 travel fund and the remaining half is divided equally among the contestants.
Guest bootblacks will also be working outside contest hours on Thursday and Sunday during market opening times. For the latest updates check the noticeboard at the bootblack stand throughout the weekend.
